July Goals

What is this?! A "monthly goals" post that's on time? I just barely posted my June goals, but HOLY COW! IT'S JULY! We're more than halfway through 2015! Wasn't it just the holidays...like yesterday? Like every month, June just flew past me and before I knew it, it was gone. Just like that. Poof! Before I get too excited, here's what went down in June.

Junes Goals

  • I picked up a Pacsafe suitcase, thanks to a recommendation from my university's study abroad office. It was pretty awesome of them to let me know what was the safest and lightest carry-on. By safe, I mean theft-proof! They even showed me where to buy a theft-proof purse. All of this cost me less than $150!!

  • I got my ISIC! It's an International Student Identification Card that comes with travel and health insurance abroad. I purchased the premium coverage through my university which will cover all of my trips (internationally) for one year. It covers and insures everything from emergency evacuation and my belongings! If you don't have an ISIC, I suggest you get one. You don't even have to be a student! There's an IYTC (Internation Youth Traveler Card) for anyone under 30. The cheapest coverage is just $25. I purchased coverage because I wanted to feel secure abroad, especially if anything were to happen.

  • I didn't end up purchasing any other insurance besides ISIC. I didn't think it had all of the coverage I needed, but it turns out that it does! I used my extra money to buy a cheap unlocked phone that I could use internationally instead. It should do the job.

  • I spent a good amount of time with my family, more often than usual. Which, was definitely needed. The only sad thing is that my dad was so tired from work that I didn't really get to hang with him on Father's Day. It was more like an impromptu barbecue with my mom and siblings while dad was asleep. Hahaha I spent a little time hanging out with friends, too, but we're all so busy! It was tough to even get together.

July Goals

You know what's a good goal this time of the year? Absolutely nothing. Take it easy. Let's all take it easy, guys. The only things I want to focus on this month are fun things like:

  • Immerse myself in Chinese culture. This might be the only time I'll have time to myself in China to do just that.

  • Make friends with my roomies! I found out that my roommates and I are all a little bit older than the other students, which is awesome! Shout out to our hosts for putting us in one room.

  • CALL/WeChat/WhatsApp/Text/Email HOME EVERYDAY! Duh.

  • Try to blog on off days. Truthfully, I already treat this blog like it's on a semi-hiatus all the time because I have to fit in blogging to my schedule. It won't be any different while I'm in Beijing, but I'm going to try to do weekly updates. So, if I have 3 updates while I'm there then this goal has been accomplished! haha

Okay, I don't know how "easy" all of this is going to be, but I'm just glad that I don't have to take care of a time-sensitive checklist this month. Seriously, I was like a chicken running with its head cut off trying to get ready for this trip. I'm so freaking glad I'm not a chicken anymore!

What's up with you this month?

P.S.: I changed my layout again, kinda. Same base (Five, Squarespace), but added my own elements and made them behave differently. Also, I got rid of the purple and header I had up for a week or so. I realized I'm still scared of color. Heh. Hopefully this is more distraction free.
