October Goals Recap: I sort of made it!

1. Cook more - I did cook more in this past month, but I would have to admit that I still ate at restaurants especially when I was traveling. However, I did only spend $60 or so dollars on meals, that's roughly about 3 outings for food. Not bad considering I used to buy every meal of the day.

2. Go to the gym - I went!

It was glorious! This is a photo of my feet, totally exhausted and getting ready to stretch.

I even stretched this goal a little bit further to try and find little ways to stay on feet, like walking:

3. Drink water, just water - This was so hard for me! I had to modify it. I allowed certain drinks with a water base -- mostly coffee and tea without any added sweeteners or stabilizers. I think I did alright. I eventually managed to consume more than 120oz of water and water based drinks. As a matter of fact, I had a soda this past Sunday and I felt horrible afterward. The carbonation felt like it burned my throat.

4. Hang out at Mom and Dad's house - I spent a lot of time with my younger siblings this past month, more than I can remember in recent memory. It was nice, actually. My parents had me arrange things for my brother as he prepared to move forward with his in enlistment in the Army. My sister needed help on school projects. My other brother just liked that I came to give him fast food every few days. All in all, although I wasn't really hanging out, it was nice to just be at my parents' house and pause my life for a second.

5. Read a book - I didn't finish a book this month but I did start I'll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson. So far, I'm enjoying it and it really hits close to home for me.

It's not necessarily close to my relationship with my brother, but there are little bits of it that I can understand. My brother and I are close in age and were somewhat close growing up, but we eventually drifted apart and butted heads the older we became. It would be remarkable to be able to see his side of the story, which is what this book lets us see with twins Jude and Noah.

I would consider October a successful month as far as these goals are considered. I've started on my November goals but I'm still piecing together what is most important for me to accomplish by this time next month. Expect monthly goals to arrive within the first week of every month! November's goals should be up in the next few days!
